A feast for the eyes |

Having started its life in 1985 as a popular gastro-inn in Kreuzberg, the eventful history of the Maxwell Restaurant led it via Wilmersdorf right into the heart of Berlin. It was here that it took up residence in 1995 in an atmospheric building with its own courtyard. The listed building dates back to 1893 and was once the site of the Josty brewery. With its neo-Gothic facade it belongs to one of the most beautiful inner courtyards in the city. At Maxwell we like to look after our guests in a chic and stylish ambiance. On a warm summer's night you can enjoy candlelight dinner in the courtyard under a moonlit sky, but inside, the restaurant no less conjures up an atmosphere of taste and attention to detail. Sitting on burgundy-red leather seats or upstairs at the Beletage you can enjoy the selected works of art you see there. In cooperation with Gallery Taik, also located in the courtyard, we are exhibiting works by Gabriele Basch, Robert Lucander as well as Ola Kolemainen for the moment. The restaurant kitchen serves a refreshingly light and contemporary menu. Therefore we use local products from Berlin's surrounding area whenever possible. With his new interpreted classics Uwe Popall and his team will seduce you culinary. The lovingly served dishes created in-house find their perfect accompaniment with our special selection of wines. Whether young innovative German winemakers or French classics like the Château Mouton Rothschild 1er Cru Classé – we always find the matching wine for you. If needed we would be pleased to assist you in choosing. Thanks to its individual character and its well-balanced price range Maxwell has a large number of loyal patrons, amongst them a good number of VIPS and celebrities from the worlds of politics, music, theatre, film and the visual arts. |
